Parking the beast

Post by 412jen »

I am parking the 412 for an indetermined amount of time while I hunt around for the fix-it parts - could be three months, could be 6 months. The garage in which the car will be parked is my underground parking garage. I am able to go out and start her up and run her but can't go for a drive.

What, if anything, do I need to do when I park her?

I am so happy to hear that.
Put two bottles of gas tank dryer into the tank....and fill the tank to the brim. This keeps rust from devleoping. When you start it...run it at a fast idle for about 20 minutes to get it warmed up. Keep the windows cracked to allow condensation out. You will be just fine. Ray

How often should I run it?

Depending on the weather and temperature...I would say once a week in cold or wet weather...and once every other weak in warm and dry. You want to make sure the oil gets good and hot..to evaporate any water condensation. Iwould drive it 15-20 feet around or in and out of teh garage to get the tires roitated so they do not devlope flat spots. Mark them with chalk. Ray
