Eccentric bolts...
Looking for eccentric bolts for the control arms to make the camber adjustable as Ray has suggested. The auto parts store was no help at all. Unless one is buying an alternator for an '87 Ford truck, they don't really want to deal with it. The alignment shops in town get their parts from this store. The original bolt seems to be M12 X 85mm. I can find eccentric bolts listed by vehicle model and application all day long, but they don't give a clue as to the size. I can find the Super Beetle ones, but how thick are the bushings on the Super Beetle, and is the bolt 12mm?

I would look at the large alignment chains. NTB..locally, said they could get anything I needed. I will ask them later this week.
You can always make them if you are handy with a torch. Just get a "slice or two of bar stock...drill an off-center 12mm hole. Drive the bolt in...and tack weld at the back of the head.
The eccentric washer on teh other end...can be made by starting with a 9mm hole...and tedious finishing with a file to get the half moon hole. Then grind the threded end of teh bolt to fit. This are low load parts...this should hold you fine. Ray

Well, looks like the closes NTB is about 120mi. away...however, I did find something that just might work...
The eccentric bolt is actually a BMW E39 5-Series part:
p/n 33 32 1 092 310 bolt
(M12 X 1.5 X 98mm)
p/n 33-32-1-093-456 washer
Just a little too long maybe, I wonder if there is enough thread? Of course, if there was something close, some modifications could be made to accomodate them...

hi, uber , look on mercedez eccentric bolt ,look on google for mcd. eccentric bolt on google picture , they show you this bolt for mcd , i d,t have the dimention but just look in case ,,,albert

I would really try a superbeetle late model ('74->) eccentric bolt.
Type 1 Golf/Rabbit lower ecc bolts of the struts are the same AFAIK.
Very common and cheap. Just order one and try it?

The lower golf eccentric bolts are too short to go all theway through the bushing. I was just working on my cabriot last night. Also, they have too small of an eccentric head as well. Not very much of an adjustment. Since they are 17mm bolt head size, Iwould bett hey are4 too small in diameter.
But, I agree that a lot of cars should bechecked. These bolts were common on the rear suspension ofr most any European car with trailing wishbones....at least in teh 80's and early 90's. In fact, teh rear toe-in adjusting bolts on the 411/412 would do nicely if you had spares. Ray
