411

Post by saggin' wagon »

Hey boys and girls, I need to make room for a westy project, so Gretchen (my 411) needs a new home. If I can't sell it within a week or so, I'm going to start parting it out. Check my samba ad http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... ?id=288142
Any questions just holler.

I doubt you will find a buyer within a week, but I would urge you not to "cut it up."

Seeing one cut up is pretty sad. I just found a 412 4dr yesterday that had been literally cut in to. Someone had taken a saw of some sort and cut right through the car at about the location of the drivers seat. It was buried under the remains of several others cars so I didn't look very close at it. The guy that had told me about it said that it was complete, but it wasn't worth it to me to dig down through the pile of junk to get to it.

Relax fellas, I would only do that as a last resort. I didn't expect much response from the ad, but craigslist seems to have worked. I got 11 craisgslist emails today, and one from samba. Heir Gretchen will most likely have a new home tomorrow.

That's good. I think the popularity may be picking up finally? Some NOS parts on ebay have been fetching some higher prices recently, maybe double or more from oh, say, last year.

Yup...been predicting it for a few years. Parts are gonna get expensive. Every car we get driving...influences a few more people to want one. Ray

Took a deposit yesterday for the car, not a problem selling it in a city this size. A production company wants to use it for 3 weeks at the end of the month for a new Danny Devito flick. The new owner is stoked on that, so we may see Gretchen on the big screen in the future. I'll keep you guys posted. They're also looking for a 71 fastback, if anyone has one to rent out for 3 weeks, let me know and I'll put you in touch with these guys.
