73 Thing ignition switch

Post by JB181 »

Need some trouble shooting help my 73 Thing ignition switch. I think I have it narrowed down to the key switch but not 100% sure. When the switch is in the run position, I have power at the fuse going to the positive side of the coil, once I go to the start the engine there is no power. I think it might be the switch but like I said not for sure and would hate to replace it and that not the problem. Thanks for any help

Dunno what else it could be. If you're sure of your observations, it needs a switch.

There's no fuse between the switch and the coil.

It's the first fuse from the left side as you look at the fuse box according the wiring diagram.

Look closer - the wire from the switch and the wire to the coil are both hooked up to the same end of that fuse, the car will still run without it.

Thanks, I found a better wire diagram that shows the switch and I see what your talking, the split off the switch.
