I have a 73 Thing.
Question #1: Is the Front Turn Signal Assembly on my 73 the same as a beetle of the same year?
When taking my Turn Signal Assembly apart, I find two bulbs: 1 large bulb with two filaments and 1 small bulb. I can't get the small bulb to light using turn signal, emerg flashers, headlights, etc. Also, only the front filament works on the large large bulb during headlight operation, turn signal, and emerg lights.
Question #2: When should the small bulb come on?
Question #3: When should the second filament of the large bulb come on?

The small filament should light as a parking light with the headlight switch in the first on position and the second positon The big filiments should light as a 4 way flasher and a turn signal. I suspect you have bad/worn bulbs, dirty contacts or faulty/loose/dirty connectors.chattathing wrote: When taking my Turn Signal Assembly apart, I find two bulbs: 1 large bulb with two filaments and 1 small bulb. It is a side marker light that should light with parking lights or headlights on.chattathing wrote: Question #2: When should the small bulb come on?

I just went through the same issues on my 73 and it took NEW bulbs (even bulbs that tested good on a ohm meter did not work. (Old bulbs with worn contacts) repaired contacts, cleaned contacts and grounds repaired. Now I have full functioning lights.
