I'm retired and coupled with being the Administrator on www.spyderclub.com, I've also been doing a great deal of tune up work, modifications and general repairs on replica Spyders and Speedsters.
I've never heard of anyone doing the below and wanted to see if it's been done. I also posted this on the Samba Thing page so I've quoted myself:
thanks in advance, LarryI have one of those combination oil pump/filter arrangements on my engine. (I know, they're not as good as a full flow cut case)
Perma cool and several other companies make an adapter that screws on the area where the filter would normally go. This adapter has an inlet and outlet threaded with 1/2" pipe female bungs.
My question is this, has anyone ever used one of these devices in this application to add an external oil cooler and a remote filter???
Due to ground clearance and wanting to run a cooler, I have such a device on my sandrails Subaru engine but I'm not sure if it's been tried on a VW engine with this kind of a an oil pump/filter combination
