Boot for Fuel Filler Neck

Post by wildthings »

I found a good fitting boot for the Type 4 filler neck last week and got it installed today. The part had an intended life as an axle boot, but is easily modified to serve as a boot for the filler neck. All one has to do is trim one end to get a 1 3/4 inch hole to fit the filler neck, the other end fits snuggly in the hole in the body without modification. The part number for the boot at NAPA is ARI 42-61080. As it is intended for continuous contact with grease, I would think that it could handle an occassional bit of petrol with little problem.

Boot for fuel tank filler neck

I bought the Type 3 boot from ISP West a few years back and have been using it on my 412 since. It even has the drain hole and the indentation for the retaining ring (if you're lucky enough to still have yours).
