Thing Front Disk Brake Caliper Mounts.

Post by Kubelmann »

Many years ago Vince at Thing Unlimited had front disk brake caliper mounts fabricated. I was recently asked if they were still available. Does anyone know of a reliable source for these?

Thanks for posting this info and link... Compared to the $90 price of the US ones those are high priced. Are you planning on making one set or producing more? I would be happy to help you spead the word on yours if you are interested. That is a part that is currently sought and not available..

K-mann,
I have had the good fortune of communicating with Vince occasionally.
Perhaps he could reconnect you with his original front disk brake caliper mounts fabricator, or offer suggestions about where to go or who to pose this problem to which might lead to a reasonable solution for the supply of this part.

I would be happy to share a couple of email addresses with you to contact Vince. One of these addresses is information to which few are privy.
If you desire to have this information, I invite you to p-mail me.

Regards,

Those are some very nice caliper mounts you have fabricated. Both of my things have 4 wheel disc brakes. My front caliper mouts are made from two separate pieces that are welded together. You billet mounts are far nicer looking and I suspect stronger than my mounts. Althoug my mounts are plenty strong. I hav a local fabircation source to make these moutns if there was enough interest. I wonder how many folks would like to go in on a group buy? Since I have two sets I could easily use them as a patttern to fabricate other sets. Just a thought...

They are one piece because the local law is that brake brackets are not allowed to be welded. Two piece would be easier.

The front disc brake caliper adapter will be available very soon. I have found a way to make them available once again. See the Thing Vee Wiki page for instructions for disc brake conversion. K-mann
