9/3 - Continuing Issues

Although the board appears up and running after the 9/1 hiccup, there still seem to be a few lingering issues. We'll be working on them after the holiday weekend.

If the board is down, I will know it. But, if you experience any odd, small problem, I would like to hear about it. Please email these to admin@shoptalkforums.com.

This is what I get when trying to get to the site or replying to a topic.Do you know why this happens??

We're chasing the problem. Looks like it may take a complete reinstall of the software to eliminate. Trying to avoid that.

The workaround right now is just to wait a minute and try again. It should work.

I apologize for the continuing "Session Tables Full" problem. It has proven difficult to cure. Looks like we will have to go through one of the rebuild the board cycles soon. I'm seeking the appropriate help to do that now.

I'm not convinced that it is the PHP software. It almost sounds like the file handlers are full, or proc system is full. Is this a shared hosting system (other DB or web sites on same hardware?), can you dump out the environmental variables and or check the file system's swap folders?

It is the phpbb software. I have tried everything I know to fix it, including some risky things that were clearly over my head. The only answer I'm convinced will be a complete revamp of the board. I will accomplish this as soon as I am able. Until then, I aprreciate your patience.

Boards been running pretty well for a couple of days. I actually was away for the weekend and STF ran without my constant attention. I think I have finally fixed the session file problem. It was a VERY arcane problem.

Thanks to all for their help and suggestions. And a particular thanks to Everett Barnes, webmaster extraordinaire at samba.com, for graciously jumping in during a moment of need.

STF remains "the littlle site that could". Continuing thanks to our loyal audience and friends.

A couple of times in the last few days I've encountered a white screen and a black bold message saying "Service Unavailable", when I would try to log onto the STF.
