Front Disk Brake Caliper Mounts
I have a pair of the old Vince S TU Front disc brake caliper mounts on both of Things. I am seriously considering removing one to use as a prototype to machine these and make them available if there is enough interest. How many folks out there would like a pair of these caliper mounts? I will make a first prototype and put it on one of my things to ensure that we have it dialed in. Then I will do a productin run of 5 or so pairs. I am also in contact with the folks that made the original mounts so I will have the info that they gathered to assist in the new production process.

There are a number of ways to install front disc brakes on a ball joint Thing front end . The low cost method that includes easy low cost replacement parts is to use a caliper adapter mount, ghia front rotors and calipers. This creates the need for a different wheel bolt pattern. The easy choices that would not require wheel adapters, include late model VW 4 x 130 wheels or Porsche 5 x 130 wheels. A number of folks sell "blank" ghia style rotors that would allow drilling all kinds of bolt patterns such as American cars or other patterns. One thing to keep in mind is that the rear wheels should be converted to the same pattern as the front wheels. I have put up an extensive article on this subject on the Thing VeeWiki web page.
