Please confirm that 70s 4 bolt drums bolt straight onto thing spindles..

I'm concerned that bearings could be different.

Only if the drums/inner bearings came off early `68 spindles could there be an issue. From March `68 up all Type I (including 181) and III bearings are the same.

There have been a LOT of threads here and at theSamba recently about using 4-lug parts instead of 5-lug on the Thing and early Beetle. The stigma must be lifting...

Long story short... I'm changing directions on a project.. instead of twisting a beam, am using 181 spindles.. could have popped the drums out of my thing.. knew someone would know an answer.

I have the following available 2 full sets of new factory VW (made in Mexico) 4 x 130 15" wheels. One set has 4 wheels the other has 5 to include a spare. I also have a set of 4 ~ 4x130 to wide five (5 x 205) wheel adapters. One pair of the adapter are mounted OEG 5 x 205 15" VW wheels. Some of the wheels have very minor curb rash so they are available at a bargain price.
