i look on the internet, in many vw parts distributor ,, and i have find this information ,,if you look for the original rear shock on your 412,, this ,,pn,, is for the 73-74 wagon ,,411-513-031k,,, and this ,pn,, is for the 4 doors ,, 411-513-031 b ,, they are différent make attention , if you buy ,nos,,parts ,,,albert

Yes, the dimesnions are identical, but the wagon version was always gas from the factory...not oil like the two and four door...from what I have seen and read. I am still not sure that this was not just a load control option. Ray
