You will have to locate a tin kit to do this so the engine is sealed. Or it will overheat quickly!

better to rebuild the type4 motor to push around the heavy Westy!

Welcome to the forums! I am sure we can help get you back on the road.

I agree that the best route would be to rebuild the T4 motor due to the extra weight of the Westi interior. Passenger busses are okay with a T1 since they are lighter.

There are a couple guys here pushing busses with T1 power that were originally T4ed. So yes it can be done.

What is the problem with the T4?

What is the history of your T4? If these engines sit for a while the carbon on the heads and pistons will collect in the lower side of the cylinder and prevent the engine from turning. There are of course a lot of more serious reasons that an engine will not turn over, but don't abandon your T4 until you are sure it can not be easily fixed.

... Don't laugh, but if the engine is in the bus... Is the bus in neutral?

If it is gear the engine will not turn over either.

my guess is a dropped valve seat..soo common.

pop off the valve covers,
take off the rocker arm assemblys,
the valve stems should be sticking out equally, put a ruler on them to check.

The dropped valve will be the one higher or lower depending on what is happening.(recessing or dropped)

Sorry I was too ambiguous there.

When adjusting the valves, and so forth, the tranny needs to be in nuetral so you can turn the engine over with a wrench.
