I can't see the picture, but VW made the "Brasilia" that looks very similar to a 412, only shorter.

I've actually seen a couple of these passing in traffic while vacationing in various parts of Mexico....but have never really seen what the interiors of these cars look like. Anyone got pics of that?

Also, does anyone have info on what they had for engine & transmission packages? Type 1? Type 3? Type 4?

???

Yes, a plateform come from a T3 Brasilian, like a 181, engine 1300 and 1600cc with 2 carbs 32/34. See here:

but the best interest is (4doors):

- The best seller car record in Brazil, year 1978, (annual sales volume) recognized by the "Guiness Book of Records 1995" is awarded to the VW Brasilia, with 157,695 units sold that year (as their data). This record was only one step behind the WV Beetle record of best seller car, year 1972, with 223,453 units sold!!

It seems to be based on Type 1 parts.

here´s a great link to brasilian VW models: http://www.volkspage.net/propaganda/

It seems like there has been also different kind of "412" Variants available:

TL model looks also familiar:

That frontal view...also has a bit on "loan" from the original Audi 100LS. Saw a few in the Philippines a couple years back, a few in Egypt in March....also to note the pimped out neon 411 varient I saw at night on the Giza ring road  8) . I saw a few mint ones in Berlin last month. Cool car. Ray

Brasilias are popping up in the U.S. from time to time now, some quite affordable.

Are the bumpers interchangable with Type4? I like the fronts with turn signals.

I would love to get my hands on one, cool little cars. Most I have seen are in pretty poor shape though.

As far as interchangeable parts with a T4, I bought a Brazilia windshield gasket in Mexico a couple of years back. It fit my 411 to a tee.

From what I've learned about the Brasilia, it's based on the wider KG/181 floorpan, with a ball joint beam and swingaxle rear suspension. It uses an upright T1 1600cc for get-up-and-go.

It's often confused with the 412, but it's only similar in styling in the front sheetmetal. The rest of the car is nothing like the Type 4.

Other than that, I don't know much. Tuna

We could have been in Berlin at the same time? I left Berlin 22.6.

Fantatstic photos,......thanks for that. I haven't checked the links yet, but will later (heading back to the shop after dinner). That TL model sure looks like a mix of a type-3 with the type-4 fastback models. Cool car......very sparse on the interior appointments. I'm trying to think where I've seen one advertised.....been listed for quite some time.....might have been Hemmings.

Anyhow....gotta run. Thanks!
