WBX Linkage for twin 40 dellortos

Post by AMBROSIA »

Can anyone confirm that a T1 crossbar linkage will work on a 1.9 WBX engine?
I can't find anything specific for the WBX but before I buy I would like to be sure.
I have orderded the WBX IDF manifolds and it's being fitted to a beetle incase that makes a difference

can't help you on the linkage, but where can you get manifolds made for the wasser?

Hi mr 1303r, it's iain ambrose from VZI 8)
The manifolds come from CSP in german via Machine 7.
All told they are 98 quid inc delivery.
For that price I see little point in buying dremel's and doing it myself.

Will be interesting to see what the quality is like

Hi Iain,

You saw mine at Brighton Breeze - mine are CSP manifolds - great quality. Not sure about a linkage though - it looks to me like the manifolds are designed to put the carbs lower and wider apart than standard T1, but i'm not 100% sure as have never compared the two types. Certainly the manifolds fouled the engine bay side panels slightly where the engine bay seal usually goes, so i had to gently clearance things there, which suggests to me that they are a diffrent profile. I guess the shape is more suited to the wide but low T25 engine bay.

I used a GWD type1 centre pull linkage, but as you saw i have modified things a bit by cutting/turning/welding the manifold tops to put the injectors on the inside, etc.

I know if you use type1 manifolds then the type1 hex bar linkage does work.

It can't be too difficult to widen the crossbar if required.

Thanks for the advice moog :)
I'll wait to see what arrives and then decide what to do.
I would also suspect that the manifolds are likely to be short, so I have removed the engine bay side trays in anticipation of clearance problems.
Fingers crossed the engine should be bolted up this weekend :P

CB's hexbar linkage works just fine with CSP's WBX manifolds, I've tried it.

I ended up selling the linkage and buying a bellcrank set instead but thats because the hexbar linkage fouled on the body of my beach buggy.
