i am restoring a 74 thing. my problem is i am not getting oil
to the rocker arms. i have oil pressure . i put a gauge next to the oil
pressure switch. am getting about 35#. this is my first VW so
i have a lot to learn. and ideas or help would be greatly
appreciated.

The stock T1 rocker arm shafts aren't oil grooved like the T4 or the aftermarket ones...
(Actually, I've had to oil groove the aftermarket ones myself, soooo...)
The stock T1 setup only sends oil to the rockers <10% of the time.
This is correctable, but requires work on the lifters or lifter bores, and is very much "take it all apart" work.
(Good excuse to replace the oil passage plugs and go full flow tho)

You should still be making a mess with the rocker covers off and the engine running.

zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
