cooling flange

Post by Multi69s »

Does anyone have a picture of the type 4 cooling flange mounted to the engine? I am trying to understand how it works in relation to the V belt. I am doing a type 4 swap into a SB and I will be fabricating the needed flange (I didn't rob a 411/412).
I would like to keep as close the the original VW design as much as possible. I am quite sure that their engineers are smarter then I am.

It bolts on like the cooling fan screen on a bus, and the side for the belt is open, the other 2/3 butts up to the fan housing.

I'm trying to track down a cheap one (~$20 shipped) for a T4>T3 swap, but making one will probably work out better.

I think I have a link to one that was on German ebay awhile back, it didn't even sell @1 euro (I missed the auction) but the guy asked >$75 US + shipping for it afterwards, and hasn't relisted it.

I thought that was way too "out there" and didn't bother to make a counter offer.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
