Reproduction fibreglass 411 front fenders

Post by SureFit Travis »

I found an ad on the famous on-line auction, and the seller had it listed as 'VW 311' front fender (I was doing a search on type-3 parts). I asked the seller if he had any other photos, and it confirmed my suspicion that it is a reproduction of a 411 fender. The item number is 160062798172, and he claims that they can make more at any time.

Thought I'd share.

Check that for sure. Most parts people think the type 3 and 4 are the same.....and....the type 3 was commonly called 311 because of some part #'s. Ray

Looking at the photos, it does appear to be a 411 front fender.

Notice the cut out in the front of the fender for the 411 headlights? It's definitely not a Type 3. Very cool.

I have seen an add on type4.org from a poster in the U.K., and he had a couple of fibreglass 'front wings,' so I assume that they are fairly common in Europe. It would be nice to know if someone is making them for the 412 as well :D .

My 411 has both front wings in fibreglass- I recall the previous owner said they were from Day Mouldings.

Mr Day is of many years now and did all my Bug wings a few years back, I think he has only made Bug wings in the last decade or so. The quality is second to none, brass captive nuts for example. Stiffer than steel parts too!
