turn signal switch replacement

Post by herr_sparky »

mine has lost its indents and wont sit at rest without triggering either signal. i cant find a part # on it to check interchangeability...type 3 maybe?

i've removed the switch cluster from the steering lock/ignition switch housing and it looks like both sides (signal & wiper) are pressed/riveted together and replaced as a unit. can a switch cluster from another model be used? i'd prefer to just repair what ive got, but i dont see any way of disassembling it safely...

*never mind, i just found the post on this and links to bughaus...wow, they're expensive. how do you seperate the halves?*

They are attached to eachother with the same screws they are attached to the steering column. Also the wiring clusters are snapped on to eachother. Other than that there shouldn't be anything else that holds them together. You just need to undo the screws, pull off the wiring plugs and windsheald washer plumbing and they should pull right out as a package. Then separate the wiring clusters. Now the switches should be free from eachother.
