Up and running

Post by Sandeep »

I've got Zen's database and software running on a temporary server and it dates back to May 25th, 2006. We're missing almost 3 years of information if I bring this version back from the dead

The recent database is missing some tables and fields which is causing the software to malfunction.

This venture will require some funds to purchase hosting services from Zen ... we know there will be no issues using his services. We will need to talk about handing this over once I get it up and running ... I forgot how much time this takes to run and manage :D

Did you get the most recent Backup from Superman? I believe there was one from 2009.

Clatter wrote:I have a GL T3 build, and was getting ready to post it to a forum.

No way I'm going to waste time posting to a place that disappears all of the time.

The tech articles that were setup initially were priceless...

Doc has indicated an interest in hosting some GL action here.
Because this is also the greatest site in the world for the T4,
It seems like a logical match.

How do we get the stuff from the old GL.com up here?
There HAS to be a way.

There was some killer stuff on that forum, even just lately.
Anybody else out there missing Wally's G50 pics yet? :D

Let's all admit it, GL.com is dead.
Even if it does come back up, Most aren't going to trust it to stay that way.

So Come On, Guys, Let's Make This Happen!!!
Doc said he was down!

What can I do to help????
Maybe there's a way to poach all the stuff off a wayback machine or something?
Clatter, I for one am very keen to see your GermanLook T3!! I'm a huge fan of Type 3s and GermanLook styling in general, so do you have another build thread somewhere else?

Just to be clear, Zen's software (3.6.4) and database dated May 2006 is working on a temporary server.

Superman's database is dated Jan 2009 but does not work with Zen's software. I would need the complete copy of Superman's software (3.6.5 ), the vBulletin license transfered, and customer account password (vBulletin.com) from Superman.

I cannot download the latest software without the customer account password that Superman holds.

I need these items to make the new database functional ... the customer account password is the most important at this time.

Please email me Superman, I have already tried to contact you so you have my address.

Nope, haven't put it up yet...
I only have time to do it one place, and, well... :?

Right now I am jonesing very, very hard to see the Bugat5-speed how-to that was so graciously donated...

That, and searching some wisdom from Lanner on 944 rear end parts interchangeability....

Or how Humble's latest project is coming along..

Dag, without GL.com, the world is a different place. :(

$180 USD for an owned licence + $65 USD for 1 year of hosting. The owned license is ours for as long as we run the board.

Total cost is $245 USD to get us up and running using the 2009 database.

I could have this thing running over the weekend if enough people could share the costs. Whoever donates money will own a piece of this new venture.

I, personally, don't want to wait around for Superman to decide on when he wants to provide the information I need to get this up and running.

I, personally, won't be supporting his new venture due to the way this whole GL.com issue has been handled.

I will be supporting VDubEngineering.com because they have some kick ass products, all engineered and manufactured in house. This operation has some serious skillz.

Lets get this show on the road ... PM me if you can donate some cash.

Thanks VDubEngineering, DTM Engineering and Zen Web Services for your support. I should have the forums up and running by Monday April 13th, 2009 with the main site to follow shortly after.

I'll make a new post here when http://www.germanlook.net is ready for traffic

I need to get a refund from James, I gave him $200 a few months ago to support GL forums, but it looks like I need to be giving that to someone else who will actually keep the site up and running. It really steams me, especially if those funds are helping to support German Look Tuning or SBO....

Well I'll be happy to pony up some cash again for a site that is going to be stable and be there in a few years. All my pics reside on the Samba so I can rebuild threads again, just want some reassurance they'll stay there...
