those springs on the throttle thing

Post by raykinsella »

does anybody know where and how to get two new springs that are hooked up to the throttle valve on the engine? One of them is about two inches long and compresses onto the end of the cable, and the other is about eight inches long and pulls the throttle valve back down when you let your foot off the gas. Are these VW/model-specific, or can I just go down to Schucks or even the hardware store?

Springs are always hard to match up. I same every one that comes my way. I have a bag of about 200 different small springs I got from a hardware store that was going out of business plus hundreds more I have saved over the years from all kinds of junk stuff that was being thrown out. The throttle return spring isn't very specific, you FLAPS will likely have a few you can select from, but the little compression spring may be harder to come by. With a little searching and tinkering you should be able to find something close enough though.

The local hardware store had a complete selection of springs and I was able to find just what I needed. Piece of cake!
