STF Updates and Format Changes

Post by doc »

Ok, did you notice? STF looks a little different this morning. A couple of things happened last night.

First, the underlying phpbb software that runs the site was updated to the current version. This will improve admin control and increase our security against the unrelenting spammers. This upgrade is something STF has been way behind on and, although mostly invisible to the members, changes the board for the benefit of all.

Second, we changed the format a little. You will see that the boxes for log on, search, new posts and who's online that used to occupy the left hand side of the page have been scattered around the page, mostly top and bottom. This should allow more of the page to be seen without scrolling, something that has been requested for a long time. Look around the new layout. I think you will find everything there, just not in the same place.

Finally, we have started down the road of making updates and changes to STF easier in the future. Once again invisible to the members, this internal change should help STF be more responsive in the future.

Now, for all of you that think this sounds pretty good and are dying to thank me, you have the wrong guy. We have a lurker member named CymonSez, Steve W. When I needed a hand with these changes, Steve stepped up without hesitation. The guy is too much in the generosity department. And, a software guru! Just can't thank him eneough. So, each time you log on to STF and it works, tip your hat to CymonSez. As a matter of fact, drop Steve a quick thank you via pm. Thanks, Steve!! :D :D

Please report any problems to admin@shoptalkforums.com. We will continue to work on improving STF.

Regards to all,

doc

Ahhh, I really like the wide screen effect that removing the three boxes on the left provides for.

And what do you mean the good old days are ahead? I can't think of how much more brilliant or modest I could become!?
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

I like the larger screen. Great job.

Is there any way to get the new posts button back. The one that posts all new posts from each forum? Even if it was at the bottom of the screen.

ooops ... I never go to the home page. I stared at the screen for a few seconds trying to find this then it dawned on me it might be on the home page.

Thankyou

I didn't know you even wore a hat herbie. You getting spiffed up for Halloween?
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

You would be the one to know. Should I post the pics you sent?
