There has been a constant interest in the wasserboxer, and using the wasserboxer parts in a Type 1 engine. How about it? This would keep the offtopic topics out of the Type 4rum and the Type 1 forums.

Any one agree?

You beat me to it Tuna, I agree as some of the other forums seem to have pretty slugish rates of use (look at the quantities-dates of posts.)
Maybe we could combine with/share some space W/ another?

Maybe call it the Type V forum? (Type 5.)

Don't forget the Oxyboxer (modified Wasser case to aircooled) This motor would probably create more interest than the Wasserboxer, as most visitors here are Die-hard aircooled purists.
This is the Type 5, and should be mentioned in the title of the forum.

Maybe the need to change the way this forum, existing stf,is set up has come. Maybe move ALL engine related forums to an engine section then list the individual engine types under that heading. The STF has grown quite large and may need some re-organizing.

I had a big speech written (frequent problem for me Image), but it comes down to this:

I vote yes (I know it's not a true Democracy) on the oxyboxer's own forum, or modify a current one to absorb the "Type 5".

I vote no on the wasserboxer's own forum, I feel this is an aircooled site, but I wouldn't mind if wasserboxer people posted here, since they are virtural outcasts with the modern watercooled VW community.

Monte

PS I feel the need to explain myself more. The biggest watercooled site on the net is VWVortex, and that site has a huge gaggle of non-automotive boards to pay for itself. I feel the line has to be drawn somewhere, and to me the most logical is that the STF stay aircooled in topic.

Hi

I think its good idea. The wasserboxer is so closely related to the Type 1/4 motor that many ideas & opinions can only help all of us, but Im biased. I sort of cringe everytime I reply to a WBX post on the Type 4 forum, thinking that Im pushing into their site.

The "conversion perversion" area should be called the F$cking stupid Subaru forum, These guys love these crappy motors and seem to dislike V.W. motors.
-Ever looked at the way a subaru oil pump is driven? -Float test?
The Wasser people should be allowed to contribute-receive information. This motor most closely resembles the Type I/Type IV in parts and design. The only difference is the water jackets.
Include the Wasser in the title.

You've got my vote even though we know what motor I've building Image The wasser is the "ultimate" combo for turbo's. I say this because it uses a T1 cam (there are WAAY more cams available for T1's), a stronger almost counterweighted crank, a aluminum case (just now comming to the T1 world) and I hate to admit-water cooled heads. You can get away with a lot more when you can cheat with water.. Its the equivilant of fanning the flames or drenching them.

The WBX and Oxyboxer deserve their own forum because there is too little info out there, and not enough people converting (compared to the Type 4 bandwagon).

it would give a central meeting place, besides the Type 4rum but that is already overcrowded so bad that people jump on that one just because they can get attention to their problems (the "guru's" hang out there, so they think its the first place to ask..).
Feewwwwww.... Just make the forum already!

I agree that there should be a WBX/OxyBX forum, but also agree with Joe that the rate of posts will be low and any "usefull" info from the type1/4 scene will be lost!!!

The wbx is so under developed and ignored by aircooled and I4 VW people it is no wonder!!
For me to got to T4 power would be an backward step and to go I4 wouldnt gain much..
A friend put an engle 120 and a pair of weber twin 40's on a 2.1 and had 137bhp at the wheels...
