Herr Kubelmann in Hot VWs
On page 72 of the December 2007 issue of Hot VWs they feature a story about the Bug In at Bandimere. Included in the article is a picture that contains one of my Things "Herr Kubelmann" The story starts in Lake George where we had a VW get together on Saturday (the day before the Bug In. At Bandimere they also feature a picture of my friend Adam's track driven Thing. Check it out. Now when I sell him (not) I can ask way more by saying "As featured" in Hot VWs December 2007...

That track driven Thing is very cool but it is not able to run on the street. It is off road only. On pavement there are small wheels that attach so it can be rolled.Cohibra45 wrote:I had to run and get my issue. Your friend Adams 'track' Thing is pretty wild. Not sure how that would be on the road , but it is different...
Is that your 'yellow' Thing behind the OE VEE Dub sign?
Take care and Merry Christmas ,

Yes that is my German Camo Thing in the picture behind the sign...

Now many years ago a bunch of Thing owner's had the idea of swapping a door at VW shows/get togethers and see how many states the door could visit.
Here is the original door
At one show some Thing owner took the door and it never appeared again. Then a few years later we tried a second time. To check out pictures of the TDTA travels go to:

Currently the TDTA door is mia somewhere West of Florida.

Just checked your link. It'd be cool to find that door and get it traveling again. We've got a big VW meet in Eureka Springs, Arkansas every August. Maybe it'll pop up by then.

I agree that it would be cool if the TDTA door surfaced again. Sadly, I suspect it might be a part of someone's car at this point. It was shipped from Florida to Indiana. I have heard no news of it since early in 2008
