a lot of people ask questions about them and there is a ton of them out there and a lot of misconceptions and people wanting just to toss them. <--- bad runon sentence, very poor gramer. how about saving a few ot these poor souls

I'd estimate that 90% of the AutoStick questions concern the process of converting them to a 4-speed. The answers to the rest are in the Bentley manual or at: http://www.volks.org/vwar/

marc that is true, but dont you think if people understood them more they would be more apt to keep them?

I guess that would depend on the person. After all, I understand them pretty durn well and you'll never find one in my driveway! The only thing I miss about the AutoStick I once had in my `Ghia is that it was nice for one-arm driving on dates, but I'm an old married slob now so there's absolutely no justification for one until my left knee wears out completely.
