Re: Roll call! Introduce yourself....
Hiya Guys and Girls. My names is James Hughes. I'm 35 and I live in a place called Dunfermline, Scotland. I bought my Gold 412 square back about a year ago from Leucars Airforce base. Unfortunately it came with no engine. Its been murder tracking down parts. Especially the drive plate for the automatic box. I'm currently putting an engine together and hoping to have "Gold Member" This is the name a Dutch pal christened the 412, because he loves gold mr Powers . on the road soon.
To be honest, i'd never thought about owning one as i'm a diehard bus dude. It all happened one day when my wife woke me up from a nice post dinner siesta. She'd spotted an advert for the 412 in a local forum. I'd never seen one before, but it had only been posted 5 minutes and had an asking price of £500, pretty cheap. I love a bargin. So in the space of about half an hour i'd phoned the owner (He was getting reposted downsouth, hense sale) and went to see it. Man what an ugly car, but the more I looked at it in the fading light of evening, I knew I had to have it, it's way cool. I had the usual, what have I done journey home. I trailered the car the following day. Since then I've been scratching my head and just getting on with getting it on the road

No I don't know any of these guys. I live about 45 km. away, never been there....
The nearest shop for me is HotRod, http://hotrod.nl/
Yes, the Dutch will try to keep the 4s alive !!
Greetings,
Joost
attached some pictures from yesterday, installed the original cup2 wheels and lowered the front with e30 springs.

Re: Roll call! Introduce yourself....
what year is that
the front is differen t than my 71 411
the nose of mine is way flatter
and take pics of the suspension in the front
It obviously sits lower than stock
do you have any pics of the spring install
or any measurements
these are all nice cars
please look at the lowering a type 411/412 thread and please input pics and info about the front suspensions of your cars
as well as
Size/width
offset
and tires sizes
im jealous that here in the states we dont have enuff type 4 following!!

I think it looks different because the VW symbol belong in front of the nose instead of abovewhat year is that

I think some pre-owner looked at a 412 and copied it this way

Re: Roll call! Introduce yourself....
'69 411's had the VW badge on the hood and not the nose. Headlamps might have been switched from the aero to the later ones, or the car has a '69 hood with the nose badge removed, or just relocated to be like a '69. I prefere the badge on the hood for 411's, either with or without the '69 aero lights.

Re: Roll call! Introduce yourself....
hello,
my name is Ray Rau.
I'm living in st.petersburg florida.
I have owned a 72 411- 2 two door for 9 years now.
I recently went to Benton Il. to trailer back a 73 412- 2 two door.
The 411 has been a great car and a real show winner.
The 412 recently spun over and will keep at getting this car to respond. The 412 sat in a field on a farm for a long time.
The 411 originally was found next to house and had been sitting for 11 years.
Put a fuel pump in it and a battery- some fresh petro and lots of cash ,and been runnning it ever since !. The v.w. community here in st.pete is quite ''bug'' crazy, so i had a decal made and put on front of 411-just for them ! ''BUG EATER'' .

I'm not new to Type 4's but a few years ago I purchased what turned out to be Kombi's 1973 gold 412 wagon. I haven't really done much with the car. It still has running issues and a few other things. I have swapped out the wheels in favour of 914 sport wheels (5.5X15's) and have replaced much of the fuel lines. I have also gathered bits and pieces for it and replaced what was broken or in bad shape. I started out with a '74 412 in '07 and now I have 3 Type 4's, 1 good and 2 donors. I am hoping to get the 412 running and driving this summer.
