Haha! I know J&S caters to all ignition types really, but its been a while I looked into the current models tbh.
Good thing you decided your intented ignition and only then buy the right stuff. But do keep an eye out for lead times on these more bespoke products ;-)

Yeah I'm finding that I spend most of my time waiting for stuff, especially in the lockdown now I'm time rich but parts poor lol.
My interior has been on order for 3 months now...….hopefully things can start to move again very soon.

Finally I was able to test fit the engine and gearbox in the car.
Man, the Split bug engine bay is small...….

It fits (just!!) and there's gravity / a drop for the turbo oil return :D
Not sure if the engine can be moved any more forward and may need tilting to get the fan under the decklid - I don't want to have to prop the bottom open to clear the fan. The issue is the Bug@5speed gearbox cradle is pulling the motor towards the back of the car so a custom cradle is in order I think.....TBC......

Wow. Can't be much of a drop for that oil drain?! Will the car have any rake that will affect it once it's at ride height?

The bottom of the centre housing is higher than the bottom of the exhaust housing don't forget and the camera angle was from below a bit. I'm not planning any rake but yeah you're right I'd better keep an eye on that......the tuna can should help too once i make it.
I'll keep going and see how it turns out. Still gotta finish narrowing the rear arms too.

Yeah I guess after another look it is higher than I first thought.

I ran turbo's in that location for a long time as well. But I had dry-sump on the car and also used the tuna can as a drain return point. That worked well. AN12 return hose might have been overkill, AN10 should work as well.

I'm running dry sump too so then hopefully it's all going to be ok. Honestly there was no way to get it higher without cutting the body which is not an option.

Does dry sump free up a lot of hp?

I heard it does, not sure % wise how much, there's a lot of optimism around with many 5 or 10% tuning gains lol. I think the twin scroll EFR7163 and EFI will free up a lot of BHP tho :D :D :D :D
The main reason I'm using it is so I can have a big oil reserve without a sump extension to smash off the bottom of the engine on speed bumps.

That and dry-sump really gives optimum lubrication ALL of the time. i think if we really knew how much air is in our oil when wet sump lubrication picks it up and the risk we take with that, most of us high hp guys would directly switch to DS.

Hp gains is therefore not the main goal to do this. Maybe 2 to 3 hp gain at 7K RPM is my guesstimate. Maybe.

I guess I just figured you wouldn't have all that oil being slung around by the engine. That surely has to lighten the load.
I wanted to do a dry sump but I'm out of places to put stuff and I don't know where I would put another tank.
