Unfortunately, the pics are a bit too grainy for that.

Just got the results today...

Third last.

The second run was where I was fastest. After that it got rough and I had to be more careful. Also goes to show I need more grip, more spine and more suspension. Which is pretty much what I already thought. :)

Oh that's a definite! And a few people kept saying, "that's too nice to be racing here". Of course that stuff just eggs me on!

Some other random stuff. Had a huge week with work so I've not got anything done on the car. My older son springs on me this morning, "Dad we gotta be at the tournament at 10am". I spent the whole day thinking it was midday. So here I am running round the house half naked grabbing keys and throwing tools/spares out of the car after last weekend. Specifically, I was super worried the tank was empty coz it was well under half when I left the event. But there was no time to fill up so we just drove it out this morning. When I got to the place later on, I checked the tank and honestly, there wasn't much less fuel in than before I drove it an HOUR home on the freeway at 60mph last weekend. Man I LOVE my EFI! Even with a rich tune it still runs on the smell of an oily rag. :D

During the week I was wandering past a work site near our local school. Something caught my eye and it was this...

I've always thought full size billiard balls too big for a gear knob, but this is a mininature size. Same colour as the interior and slightly distressed! Perfect, so it'll get drilled and tapped. :)

I also caught up with an older guy who built a crazy swing axle/king & link pin track car. He came up with the rose joint setup for his front end. I'm looking into how I could easily put it together. Should allow me up to 4deg of neg camber. Seems pretty easy.

I have seen rubber sealing boots for Heim joints...
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

He's good. He reckon's his memory is starting to go though. So I just let him tell me every detail he could remember. You know that car of your's did a 1:11.60 at Wakefield? Super impressive! What's it like to drive?

Wish I could put a spool in my car.

He told me I could drop in whenever I liked, so I might take him up on that.

Well, turbo 2 is back from the my turbo guru, diesel mechanic. He tested it up to 20psi of direct oil flow (no restrictors) and had no leaks! Yay! He requested the old one to put on his son's go kart. However, after said son nearly sideswiped the local swingset in said go kart ripping donuts, the kart is going on Gumtree (like craigslist).

So, once I get over my cold I'll reclock it and install it in the car BEFORE I have to drive it all weekend for work. Fun times!

In other news, another pump turned up in the mail today.

demister2.jpg

One of the oddities of local registration is that with all the "improvements", my car has to have... wait for it; 2 speed wipers, windscreen washer and a demister. It never came with 2 speed wipers. Grr. It would have a demister only the whole back end is full of turbo/oil system/intercooler and all the heater bits are gone. Thankfully I only need an air pump for the demister. So after deciding an electric element heater would be a bad idea NEXT TO the fuel tank, I found this. Even with a 9 volt battery this is pretty good so on 12 volts it should be awesome

.

I think I'm going to wire it up to run whenever the wipers are running. That should simplify things a little. :) I've yet to organize a washer bottle, but that should be reasonably straight forward.

That looks a great blower for the defrost, need one myself.

A lot of cars use a factory solution in the form of an 8k-16K BTU (2kw fixed or 1-4KW) gasoline fired heater right next to the gas tank. I use a BN4 myself. Driving around with the window open on coldest days is typical.
