Amen, Ray. You are right they are scarce. As you already know, most of them were stood up with between 70 qand 100 k miles on them, for noone could get parts to fix them back then.............

I will have one of thoseclose to perfect cars towards the end of the year. I have worked my butt off collecting parts ( it took me 15 of the old yellow injectors to find just 4 that could be rebuilt) making it work. Now a lot of money at a reputable body shop ( you get what you pay for) that works totally on street rods and antique resto. I intend to have a daily driver/ show stopper..............it is one of a kind for sure, and i am taking it back as close to stock as i can.

When I get it back from the body shop i will have to tackle the front end.......I have done nothing to that.

OK, I have several rust-free decklids, and I need some cash, so I am willing to part with one. Keep in mind it took me YEARS to find these. PM me with an offer!

In a few weeks....I am moving to a larger place. For the first time in about three years...I will ha
ve a two car garage and .....room to work on all the projects... . One thing I have been playing with....is a mold. In short term, I could cast the outside skin of the lid out of zinc alloy. It would have to be thicker for strength. I would also cast the inside section as a seperate piece. They would be aligned on pins, joined by high temp epoxy...and painted to appear seamless.
There would be three slip in pieces of flat steel stock to bolt the hinges and the latch onto it. It would be heavier than stock. It would look from the outside...exact. It would look at a glance ...90% on the inside.

It could be done easily from zinc alloy. If it needed to be aluminum....I would have to build a small smelter....of which I laready have the plans . I started seperating the pieces of a lightly rusted one that I have. When I get the outer skin loose. I will cosmetically smooth the holes with bondo...then bolster the thickness with Urethane casting compound (to make the "buck" or form)....then cast the mold. It will have to be of high temp plaster.
Its been one of the projects I have not spoken much of...because it has taken forever to figure out if I could do it.

I'm hoping with getting into a place with work space....I can start putting out some parts this summer. Stay tuned. Ray
