I followed the levers back to the muffler looking type things, & it looks like one is connected. It's wrapped up. I'm not game enough to try it yet though. At least I know what it is for sure now, thanks.

The wiring isn't hacked so much as it is old.

Not worried about the push buttons or the holes, other than a breeze blows out of them. I can't let anybody use the ashtray either cos the ash blows everywhere, lol, it's a good excuse to not let anybody smoke.

I know there have been alot of Manuals suggested. I still have no idea though. When the time come's I will look for one that says: 1970 model with a 1600 dual port motor in it. (If there is such a book, lol).

I'm fairly isolated where I am, I'm hoping that when I relocate everything will fall into place easier.

You are a source of information MNAirHead, thank you for your time in helping me. I suppose you can't go into the thread about the picture's... you seem to speak my language. (Simple, lol).

Great....

The heat really does work well when it's functioning. Many of the flaps have corroded and get sticky.

If you find you need new heater cables - you pay the postage and I'll donate a NOS set.

I don't expect you to send me anything, especially from where you are, lol.

It may take me six months to find out if the heater actually works, lol, I'm not game enough yet to touch the lever.

You will be the first to know though, I promise.
:)

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, my computer was in the shop & it might be going back there, lol.

Yep... the computer went in again, just got it back. lol.

Hi, my name is James, aka "TuffLuck". I just joined this site after watching for a few days on a referral. I am already posting and feel comfortable :D . I currently am building a 70 vert. Its the 1st vw I have owned in over 10 years. Prior to that I owned quite a few. I am having to relearn alot due to changes over the years, but I am getting back up to speed. I am looking foward to spending time here with everyone making new friends and sharing my passion for these cars :D

Check out Emil's website. Probably a language barrier for most of us, but go straight for the pictures. He has posted some fabulous old vw stuff among a lot of other nice pics. Worth checking out. I had never seen many of these historical shots and I've seens a lot of stuff over the years.

Thanks, Emil and welcome to STF!! 8)
