Hello Scott,

thank you for your response. I checked the switch - does not work anymore. I will most likely stick to the coil however will replace the ignition system with a modern one, one with high energy. After all I am not sure if the ignition system is working well. Carburetor settings I will check once I am sure the ignition system is ok.

Thanks for the hint on the resistor in the rotor - I checked, I do not have one. I should be fine with a high energy ignition system.

Simon,

The Jacobs ignition system that you have IS a high energy ignition system. I would not get rid of it unless you are certain that the ignition box is bad. At the very least it would make a great spare. I would recommend at least cutting off the switch and wiring the ignition box directly to see if it works.

There is also the question of whether or not the optical trigger is working correctly. So don't throw anything out until you have your problem solved.
