RAY, IS THE BEST PROFESSOR,, like he said the trans. can geeve certain problem,, but wend you buy a secon hand car , you never know what kind of work the guy can do on the car,,motor,, first thing,, make sure if the ,,tdc,, is correct with the piston ,,no,,1,, and the ,,0,, on the fann,, and look the red mark on fan and the distributor point are on her mark,, ( if the first horner change the distributor you d,t know her job ) and adjust the valve like the book said,, and take the compression test,, for to make sure the motor is correct,, more of 100 pse is correct ,, afther that you can look for différent adjustment,, albert

ok another few hours outside....and i'll answer a few comments from earlier in the thread...
I checked the axial play in the TVS and there is less than 0.5mm... I check this whilst checking contact with the wiper contact and it stayed in contact the whole time...
Also checked the autobox fluid and topped up as it was between the 2 marks, now its up to the higher mark.
Still no change to problem only to say that once the car is put into drive i can feel the box / converter moving the car without my foot on the brake as you would normally expect, but as soon as the accelerator is pressed nothing for approx 1.5 seconds then.......off we go... once moving all is fine, gear changes, speed etc ...straight up to 80 - 90mph ( on a test track )
Ray, the valves are 6 thou, by good i meant " accurate " not a 2 min job but taking my time to set them properly....
The ONLY thing I have noticed is that when the car is cold, as in first thing in the morning it pulls away perfectly !!!
So i still have no idea what it causing the problem ....

You are running rich. I will get you some photos for tighter adjusting of the TVS soon (sorry its been busy). But for now.....you are rich.
Any kind of air leak can cause this....or the CHT (temp sensor 2) being out of range, or fuel pressure is high, or a bad PCV valve...which we reccomend you replace with a fixed orifice.
Check your fuel pressure. Then with a voltmeter, black probe on the engine block and red probe to the CHT lead...read the ohms when stone cold and then fully warmed up.
Also, just as a quick test both before you start it stone cold and then again when idling cold....disconnect the ambient air temp sensor...that is the two wire sensor on the rear left hand side of the intake manifold. Let me know what that does to the idle. Ray

Thanks for all the help....
I finally got this sorted, it turned out to be a worn plate in the distributor attached to the vacumn advance....so this caused the motor to run all over the place.... changed the distributor and bingo no more sluggish behaviour......
Ray, also did the fixed hole conversion on the PCV...now has 3mm hole...

Yep....sorry we all forgot to suggest that. Its common. There is a bunch in the D-jet sticky..some of which I wrote about tightening up the plate in the plates in the dizzy. RAy

Firstly I have checked all electrics, replaced all vacumn hoses, the car has been running ok til this problem occurred as shown below in a video.
Once the car is driving it's fine with no problems. I'm thinking it's the TVS ( Ray is sorting me photos of how to adjust ) but thought I would post here to see what everyone thought....
It's the fact it's an automatic makes it hard to pull away from standstill / idle
please expand your langauage for us less techie type 4 folks needing help;
what is a tvs....?

Rayray1.....we will be happy to explain. Also if you are driving a 411 or 412...you need to get a book...NOW!. These terms are in the book...and you will need to get basic "techy" pretty quick or its going to be painful

.
I would suggest that you opne a new thread so we do not mix these up. tell us what you drive and what problems you are having. There are some basics you need to do before you even pass go:
Check fuel pressure
Check every single part of the system for vacuum leaks..."0" vaccum leaks of any kind are allowed.
Check ignition by the book.

Thanks, kindly,and i am getting up to ''techie''speed real quick. I have some very good and handed down from ole timers books. I have not had to 'delve' into this too much as for many years the 411 ran so perfect. But, this mini flat spot or sudden, instant loss of power is quite alarming.
I have followed closely and with a v-dub buddie the book.
Tonite , however, i noticed, while fondling parts- that the BLACK inj boots are towrds the front of car and the TAN are towrds the back. The last shop did a intake gaskets.,and could? that be/? the problem? with jerk- or stumble? !
let me know asap -
thanks- for all your notes here.
