One other note, other than the extra beef on a Thing beam it's the same as a beetle beam. Thing arms slide right in.

Does the original beetle speedometer wire work with thing spindles in type-1?

Starting at the second post down I have posted some pictures on Thing spindles and arms in a type I beam. There is a lot of additional information given so maybe there is some info one can use.
