I paid $25 for that cable, and it was from a dedicated computer store. Not sure.

Also, I tried powering up through the car battery directly, no go. One thing I did notice is the three lights flicker for an instant when I give it 12V power on and off but the lights won't stay on when I give it 12V solid. I have a 15amp fuse and it didn't pop the fuse.

On the battery charger it bring a 2AMP setting of 12V down to 9.67, on the car battery it won't even light up like it's being overloaded. Is there a short in it? Are the lights supposed to flash on and off when I have good communication? I saw that once so far. I was able to pull the firmware code attached.

There is definitely something wrong if you can't power it up on 12v, check the power supply section of the pcb. Worst case scenario you need to have someone that knows MS repair it, like Mario or diyautotune. I'm always hesitant buying electronics off ebay.

Gonna send it to DIY to be repaired then. I simply don't have the time to keep messing with anything even more involved, I can't solder worth a crap and tracing wiring diagrams makes me cross-eyed.

Thanks for all the help and I've learned my lesson about buying ebay stuff (he said it hadn't been used before...).
