Doug, sounds good, how much meat is left in the liners at the case end spigot? it will be a great stump pulling motor, i would leave the water jacket height for now, all i do to increase the gasket deck clearance is skim the head face, then use the stock gaskets, i only use Elring gasket sets, they are the best and survive much longer than other cheaper brands.
good work.

Re: Big Valves in a waterboxer head
Hi All
The case end of the liner wall thickness is .075 the length is 1.625. the head end is somewheres around .175-.185 don't remember for sure. I bored out the heads about .010 shy of hitting the head bolt holes. still needed the O ring on the top of the cylinder to seal. The cylinders were air cooled AAA 101.6 I machined off the fins and shortened them up to fit the boxer. Without the fins the walls are way to thin. not a lot of rigidity left in them. I had to squeeze them in a vice to get them back round. Since this is just a proof of concept engine I am not too worried about that. Once I get the right combo I am getting Darton as cast sleeve blanks and machine them to my specs. I used the air cooled just because I had them.Got the new jets and tubes installed going to do more dyno tests today. also going to try a different intake set up. an EMPI weber IDF with close to stock cast type 1 ends just for the hell of it.
as for what this engine may be used for, do an internet search on my name see what you come up with.

Re: Big Valves in a waterboxer head
Here is some pictures of my project engine. Tried the EMPI IDF 44 carb with the stock type 1 ends, killed everything lost almost 30 HP! anyone looking for a performance gain by switching to the EMPI style manifold with a single IDF Carb. it may be an improvement over stock. tyring to get any serious HP from the configuration aint happening.
Just my uneducated findings
