At the moment I have no plans for 5-6 studs , I'm hoping the interlocking steps I cut in the head & cylinder will work (help) with the
sealing issues with 103+ bores

, I tried the piano wire trick on the cylinders before ( in the past ),it helps but not enough,
IF interlock step cut works, I want to try it on a 103 bore turbo build ( 71c x 103 / more parts I've been collecting

) , cheers Bill D.
here's some more pic's

Loving your build...
FWIW,
The shims under the lash caps make me a bit squeamish.
If you get to flailing on this thing like you should, one might get cocked a bit crooked in it's cap...
You can get caps in different thicknesses here:

Hi Clatter, thanks for the link, I tried to find lash-caps in the .150 range (approx. 4mm) no luck, I found these comp cams 620-8 ,
their .230 overall x .080 lash x .312 inside dia. , .230 -.080=.150-.060(shim)=.090 depth stem fit , I even polished the 8mm(.315)
stems to fit , the caps fit tight

, the shims I made on the lathe, (turned down 316ss) , Thanks again for the link( stored in folder)

,
cheers Bill D.

I agree with Clatter, lash caps with shims underneath, isn't really optimum.
I know it's more expensive, but I would go new valves with longer tips, that way you can have the keeper grooves cut in the same location not effecting your springs installed height, and you could have longer tips and do away with the lash caps & shims altogether.

Sorry for the late response

,
It's been running good (it's in a 914) I'm still trying (learning

) to tune it , here's a video
of it before I put in the car , thanks Bill D.

Nice throttle response. What mapping methods are you using? Blended, alpha N, map load?

that thing sounds like a beast for sure! if/when you have a chance...any way to get some pics of the spark plugs from underneath? just curious how the p/r tubes and exhaust looks like under there.

hey Steve, I thought the same thing, until I got it all assembled

, #2 & #3 I'm gonna have to pull the
pushrod tube halfway out to change plugs , but hey I only changed plugs about once a year in the past,
I'm thinking that maybe I can make a custom plug socket , but I haven't got to that point yet (made time)
it's lower on the list

, cheers Bill D.
Hey Steve, I finally made that special socket for the bottom plugs ,so I DONT have to move or remove
the push rod tubes

, I made from a cheap stamped steel socket (the kind that uses a screw driver on the end) and a 1/4 drive socket , cut them both down and welded together

, here's a few pic's

I believe I'm using speed density ? (I think it uses algorithm) I could be wrong , I've been playing with
the sequential injection timing & the trims tables , feels even better in midrange driving

, thanks Bill D.

I'll take some pic's next time I'm under there

, I'll put the special socket on ,so you get an idea of the
tight space angle on two of the spark plugs ,

The quality of your build is really imopressive. May I ask what type of spark plugs you use on the bottom?
