Re: turbo parts hunt
been doing more research and I've been reading of using a 34 pict 3 as a blow through with only a few mods and was wondering if anyone had success with this all the threads kind of go dead because everyone turn to fuel injection because we all know its the holy grail but i don't want to put that many electronics in a buggy because we get dumb in it. But I was thinking this way all id have left to get would be a baja style header, a wide band but me choosing that has turned out to be much harder than i expected commitment issues and all. and fab up a pipe for the turbo and exhaust. Then i should have a running beginner turbo buggy. But if using the 34 pict 3 is a bad idea then I'll keep on task with the draw through setup and go with a 2bbl carb.

And get some kind of something to control your ignition. A simple way would be a blackbox or a programmable distributor.
Remember you will have to make compromises with a carbed turbo engine. A carb does not know if a engine is turbo'd or not.

Better to be blown than to suck!

Re: turbo parts hunt
I had a stock style distributor and a blackbox. Easy to wire, connect vaccum and program it.
Tune spark table yourself. You can start with the pre-programmed table and start from there!
Don't know where you're from but my blackbox and distr. will come up for sale in a few weeks.
Take a look at the cb website, lok for magnaspark and blackbox.

So would this be what I need for the ignition control https://www.cbperformance.com/product-p/2016.htm
And with that you could roll all that into fuel injection for when I get a real bug

Re: turbo parts hunt
I spent 2 season with a Bocar 34 Pict-3.......Problem was I kept turning up the boost.
I went to a MS-1 crank trigger ignition after about 2 weeks. If I would have had better work conditions I would never have spent as much time on a carb as I did.
It was a money thing....I still put 7000 miles on it before switching to FI.
It always ran good enough to drive every day when the weather was good enough but I always knew FI was in the future and it kind of kept me from really pursuing a permanent fix.
While it always drove pretty decent...it just never drove good enough for me.
FI fixed that and allows me to hit 25 lbs boost..........13 lbs wasn't enough.
It's an addiction........

It's all in my build yet..... pictures and everything if you want to read it.

Cody lets go back a couple of posts.
Is this an optical allusion or are you not supporting the upper tube of the front beam? I see a spreader to the shock towers and what looks to be a secondary support to the shock mounts but the top tube of the cage looks to be going to the bottom tube.

Re: turbo parts hunt
Very much yes. Also the beam looks to pretty close to vertical; if so more caster needs to be added.
It also looks like a rail was modified which may or may not be true but it looks like it is. If the front has been lengthen this is how it should be done. You should be able to tell if there is an inner piece just by tapping it with a wrench and listening to the sound; a thud vs. a ring.
The stock is mounted with something like 6° or so tilt back. Also, with hard hits suspension wise, say when lifting the front wheels (drag racing can have them), the beam can want to tip forward and the front end can get twitchy.
