From what I've read, the BOV should be close to the throttle but it's not super critical.
IAT should be far enough down the line that anything that will cool the air (intercooler, water/meth, nitrous) has been done. Not so close to the head that the head will heat it.

Thanks for the pics.

I have my blowoff between turbo and air to air intercooler.

Another productive day! I have both the IAT and BOV mounted to the charge pipe.

...and since we are talking about sensors, here's a pic of the CHT mounted to the 3-4 cylinder head. This is a CHT sensor from a mid 2000's Mustang V6. Luckily for me, Megasquirt supports this sensor as replacement for Coolant temp.

Task for today: Mock-up the intake to the turbo. My concept picture shows the intake tube running back up into the engine compartment. However, after much thought, and the fact I'm not running an intercooler at the moment (will soon, though) I decided that above the transaxle would be the best place. Away from road debris and hopefully a much cooler place than the engine compartment.

You may have also noticed I wrapped the turbo oil drain with heat wrap. Not sure if needed, but I figured since its so close to the J-tube it wouldn't hurt.

I was able to get the fender on and temporarily place the rear apron. This give a better idea of how the car will look once it's all done. I was going to start (re)building the wire harness for the engine, but then I decided that instead of hacking a harness together I will buy the premade harness from DIYAuto.

Yeah, I know. It's in the plan, but not in the budget... yet. I know this is not the thing to put off, but I don't plan on any spirited driving until the engine is good and broken in.

I had my drawthrough turbo on since 2007 with no deep sump. I wasn't making a ton of boost, but boost was there and I never had any problems. Well.... Not with that anyway!

Dang man, first time I made boost with my compound setup it made 20psi! It easy to say that you are gonna take it easy, harder to actually follow through on that one.
Is it a dual valve spring motor?

I had my oil light come on in hard right turns...

No more since the deep sump.

Plus more volume, cooler oil....

But hey, don't fix it if it ain't broken!

Right now I'm running stock replacement 043 heads with valve springs (single) from a small block chevy. Dimensionally they fit and have the same spring rate as High rev VW single springs. I have a set of chromoly push rods from CB in route as we speak. Once these heads wear out I plan to replace with a set of CBs Panchito 044 heads.
