I agree with Tomt. In the late fifties early sixties there was a three cylinder car; the DKW. We called it a "Duitse Kaas Wa" in Afrikaans (German Cheese Wagon.)It had a 2 stroke engine and they had a badge on the back saying 3/6. But the Beetle was; and still is a 4 cylinder with all 4 cylinders working.
Now I'm gonna act my age and nag you like an old man: How old is your coil? A weak coil can also result in unburned mixtures.

I use to have a 3=6 DKW I love spining 8000 rpm.Two strokes scream when they are on the pipe. Steve
