I have a 65 Single Cab that I am looking to lower. I am not familiar with the suspension on a bus or a single cab if they are the same? I like your the lok of your bus Rizz and am looking for a similar look. How do you find the ride? I am also interested in an air bag set up. I have seen a couple from John Jones and liked the idea of an adjustable ride. How do you think the ride would be between either set up.

I've found a place in australia called custom bugs and buses who make 2" drop spindles for ball joint bus front beam. Sounds like a perfect solution for fitting 68-70 front beam into pre67 bus. Here is the link.

Has anyone heard of this company?

ya the only reason to narrow a front end is tire clearance. its alot of work and im not really interested in doing any bus beams for people but try franklins vw werks in washington. im not sure of the web address but im sure if you search the name you will find it.

WOW! Great lead man! I emailed them looking for more info on the dropped balljoint spindles. Hope it pans out. As far as I know they'd be the only supplier of these. I'd definatly consider a set myself.

I'll post what I find out. Dropped spindles is definatly the way to go. And with the balljoint beam with disc brakes...I'd be setup!

Jeff,

I've talked to Nate down in Salem who does some of the same stuff, but I never asked this question - Why narrow the front-end? Is it just for better tire clearance and fitting wider tires? And, what do you charge to narrow a front-end?

Thanks,

Here's the response I got:
-----------------------------
Hi Rex
Yes you did read correctly we do do drop spindles for bus spidles they drop
2 1/4 inch and are on the spliter called Hamerd on our web site. As for the
cut and turn, that would not be my choice but hay it will work, the
adjusters would be my choice.
The spindles cost $770.00 aus dollars and we sell the adjusters for $89.00ea
aus dollars to suit type 2 beams.
Sorry I cant elaborate on this as I am leaving for a race meet tonight If
you have any other questions please drop another email.
Thanks
MIKE

So that's $49 each for the adjusters and about $430 for the spindles. That's a lot of $$$ for dropped spindles...but remember that these are balljoint bus dropped spindles that I don't think anyone else makes. Good info for sure.

Rizz, that sounds like an opportunity to me! I cannot imagine that the bay spindles are harder to do than the split ones..?

Type2, put some M-B rims on there and it will look really nice.

Yeah, cbb is expensive alright. I find the link rizzag11 mentioned about and they have ball joint bus dropped spindles for as well. Dunno if they will fit on normal bus beams cuz the pictures shows a custom narrowed beam.

Yeah, I saw that too...
I'm not sure I understand the mechanics of how the narrowed beam fits though. I guess you narrow it to bolt to the inside of the frame instead of the outside ... but you're still limited by the frame itself as to how far you can tuck a wide tire it seems ... being a novice on this kinda stuff sure sucks sometimes Image .

thats what happens when your trying to be a nice guy a teach a friend how to do something. then he turns around and undercuts your product price since he is a new "master at doing these" Image not very cool. not interested in doing business with people like that. also his are not gusset welded like mine and wolfgang(which i think is nessecary)

Jeeze .... I thought only I had "friends" like that ....
For those that are interested, hopefully I'll be able to give a full review of rizz's spindles in a couple of weeks along with how hard they are to install when you've NEVER done it before. Trying to beg the money out of the "boss" now, shooting for the end of the month.
