There were early Type IIIs with the 5 on 205 bolt pattern and smaller drums closer to Beetle-size but I've never seen any - all Type III (4 or 5-lug) and Type IV (4-lug) imported into the US had the same size brakes.Big.Al wrote:... The Type III rear brakes will fit any Type I (you need the backingplates too, and only the ones from 4-lug cars have adjuster slots). If you have short-spline axles the drums/hubs need to be cut ~15mm, but on a `68 it'd be a direct bolt-on.
