Ok, here is the site,
www.wagenteile.com also available in English. It is a repro and costs ~ 20E, thats ~ $25 + shipping (say$10). I may give it a try, but here is how I feel, a) I do not trust repro quality especially in rubber composits exposed to such an environment. There is so much repros with a large range of quality variation available from the former east block nations that have joined the EU. b) Albeit small amount here, I'd rather invest my money into Ray's efforts to further fuel the ability to get other parts made, and get a part that I know had some thought put into it. Thanks! I tend to stay silent on matters like this...for the moment. On one hand...if a repro part is cheap enough...and someone needs it badly...I can't badmouth or blame them for getting one now. On the other hand, my efforts originated years ago...trying to get parts for my own car.
I only want to restore this one once. If I put a boot on my car now....chances are, in five years it will be shot. Will these be around in five years? Who knows. They are almost unobtaium now. So every part I need...I think about the materials seriously. the problem wwith balck butyl rubber, or EPR, or EPDM and especially vinyl, is that they really are not "fuel-proof". This is why Istarted thinking about castable silicones and urethanes.
I am trying to see if I can buy....and afford....something like a bulk order of Permatex ultra black or gray. Those are toug, totaly fuel proof...and have a 600+f temp range...and I can work them to get them aerated, and ccuring...then vacuum or pressure cast with them. But for now, I have access to pourable silicones, that have about 250+ temp range and very high life span and fuel resistance. Ray

That sounds right to me. When I start restoring my 412 I will only do it one time. Maybe I am finicky but the real reason is that I do not wanna spend the rest of my life working on it, There is much more to life, so I like to do it get it done and move on to enjoy driving it and looking at it, not eternally working on it. So, it better be right and last. Now here is an idea, if you can make a mould that would work on both T3 & T4 applications, that will increase the buyers pool drastically and give you (us) the revenues needed to fund other T4 efforts. I know lots of T3 folks who would pay for the better quality boot. They are in the same boat as we, but there is a lot more on their boat.

Ray, Please be sure to include me on the list for some of your repros. I have been kicking around with my type 4 for about a year and a half, and am taking the plunge for it to go to the paint shop. And i mean a good one, a guy that makes show cars. So, when that is complete, I think i will really be anal with the quality of anything rubber....
Anyone find something that works good for door to car seals(the big one that goes around the door)
