The anti-rotation plates are on all type 3 and 4...and a few BMW and Volvo that use the same caliper. There are two main reasons for them (1) during pressureization of the piston...if it rotates...it can and will bleed force/fluci past the seal. This is the least of the reason. The main reason...is that the outer boots fit tightly. If they rotate, it pulls the dust boots loose...and lets water creep in faster. I think its a good design. I have know n these calipers ..when kept bled and relatively water free...to last 200k miles no problem. If the dust boot leaks or goes out....the life in mearured in under 100k...especially in wet or dusty areas.
Also, once the pads are seated, anything that disturbs the positioning...is inviting vibration/squeel. Ray

Where did you get the rebuild kits? I was looking at Bus Depot, but they don't really have any info on theirs, just a price.

I happen to have an NOS FAG Kit. I' will check for part #'s. There are several different kits. The Teves kit is very slightly different from the FAG kit, though Ibelieve they are interchangeable. There may be a slight difference from early to late and there are kits from Scheafer as well. You need to be sure of the piston diameeter for ordering some of these. Ray

I'm starting a parts number list for the Nomad, as I go along, and when I hear of a useful one, I jot it down. Maybe that would be a good sticky note at the top... :)
