Hey my favorite muffler was when I had a Cherrie bomb(in the sale rake for five bucks) welded into where my 1600 bus muffler was!! That thing wasnt even loud at cruize and when you were at high revs it made the engine sing! LOL! Bill

so will my best shot be to get that NOS one off ebay and search for a damper pipe? I'm still unsure on what'll be best

I must be missin something, lol! Were you guys talking about modifying the orignal muffler with the side exit or mid exit by changing the interior baffles? bill
If you're going by the picture at JCWhitney, don't - they often use a generic picture rather than the actual one, it's one of the joys of shopping there.
Ray was describing going inside a stock muffler and removing some of the baffling for increased flow, yes.

Well, the price is right and you could always get a muffler shop to make you a straight pipe to use in place of the damper or maybe alter a bus damper to fit...but if original appearance isn't important, the end-exit style are better IMO.

I say get it. it is the right configuration for a 411, you cant beat the price/quality, and worry about the tail pipe later as you can buy it from the other parts houses or have it made. And if you missed it, dont worry, the guy relists them automatically. just my op.
