Hey Guys, I ordered the ball joints from autopartsgiant. The TRW ones. I'll let you know what they look like and try to compare to the stock ones... I had to try and see what they were! Someone should try and order the control arm they show available! I actually was thinking of it! I dont think it would be a waste of money to have a extra one, other then my original worn one! LOL! bill

For those looking to replace the torn boots on their Type 4 ball joints with boots off of a mid seventies bus, you can buy the boots sans joints at

http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp ... %2D001%2D4

They are 25 bucks for a set of four, so you can give a pair to your buddy and sill pay less than buying two bus ball joints to canibalize for boots.

The boots are about 2" in diameter ID on the big end, beware that some Type 4 joints take a smaller boot, about 1 1/2 on the big end.

Not sure why you would need a control arm unless you bent one... :?

I thought the control arm was almost always worn out and needed to be replaced on the 411/412. I know Ray does rebuild them some how! I thought the top cap on the joints would break down and let water damage?? If they still have one of the TRW replacement ones I would think it would be cheaper and easier then rebuilding? Need to just go to one of Ray's Rack/pinion ideas! lol! bill

You are thinking center link and not control arm. The control arm is the lower suspension arm into which the stud on the ball joint attaches.

I bet the center link is out of stock also. It's worth a try, though. I believe Ray has mentioned that their longevity is poor, even from new, with factory type materials.
