Chenowth Explorer A-Arm Build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Would you be open to meeting up at Gordon's Well?
While you can drive there from Glamis, it's easier just to camp there instead of Glamis. I could drive over ther from where I camp as Ogilby.

Getting ready to drop the engine in tomorrow after the tranny rebuild. I took a good look at everything while it was apart and found the clutch had been slipping. So besides a new throw out bearing, tomorrow I will toss in a new 6 puck disc and upgrade from a stage 2 to a stage 3.

Tossed in the engine and changed the oil. Tip of the day: install the throw out bearing BEFORE bolting up the engine! Next is plumb the radiator and install the ECU.

Then installed the front limit straps.

Anybody here in SoCal that can bend and or weld aluminum tubing for my cooling system?

Looking good!

I would think an exhaust shop could bend the tubing maybe?

Not very close to you though.
If you feel you are picking up speed you may be going downhill.

Hmmmmm, looks like I will either get stainless and try to weld it. Or get mild steel and just coat the inside to protect it from corrosion.

This weekend, I got the air filter mounted, installed all the vacuum hoses and engine harness and started mocking up the ECU mounting and wiring on the rear firewall. Now, if I keep the ECU there, I gotta build some sort of cover for it, to keep it from getting wet. Getting closer!

I agree with Herbie, very professional looking and the color coding... with the blue you can open it up at any time without permission :D . On the holes the tubes go through like on the dash, are you going to put grommets in place to protect and seal or not worry about it?

Thanks for the compliments guys! As for grommets, yes, everything has a grommet or a clamp on it to protect it from chaffing.
