Well it ended up running strong the rest of the fall. I did up the alky injection to 3gph from 2. Maybe next year I will screw around with timing a bit, maybe back off to 15psi and up the spark a bit. Right now Im running 18psi and 20*.

Compression is 150 on all 4 cylinders. I guess the cast pistons/crank made it 1 year at least.

Same setup, ran 18psi and 24* of timing all last year. Compression still checks out at 150 psi.

Dont anticipate any changes to this build unless I get real bored and build myself a 2276.

Great thread!
Love your details on tuning, this will be invaluable to me with the old blow-thru setup i just got.

CB actually had mod rings to sell you in-stock?
Keep trying to call them and speak to a human but no luck.

I got my mod rings by clicking on email me when back in stock. It wasn’t all too long.

Haha yes 18 with 24* and non forged. Still going strong, if it dies....it dies. Just got the carbs and everything tuned up this weekend. A couple of WOT pulls to check function of everything and I should be good to go for this year.

I am using my home made mod rings, the CB ones were nice but I needed more restriction to really get the tune where I wanted. Maybe if I had 44's they would do the trick. If you get in a bind and need some mod rings you can just holesaw some out like I did. I have the CBs in the parts box, but if I ever went to 44's I think I would use them at that point.

Update to wrap this thread up. Got a quick free pull on a chassis dyno, with no tricks or changes and gave it a rip on my normal setup. It made 147whp at 5800. Curve looked good, was still making power when i let off.

There are a lot of things i could do to juice it up, but the thing is very drivable and runs great. Better exhaust and heads, and getting rid of the 29mm mod rings really wakes it up. But the drivability goes way down so im not too worried about that. If i ever get the bug for more power ill just go straight to building a 2276 and boosting it. Otherwise, its nice as it sits.

Got another chance for a free dyno pull so I had to change the setup for science.

Swapped to 44HPMX. 36 vents and 33mm modular rings.

21psi.

It was a dynojet, so I couldn't build boost to save my life. Made around 20psi at 6000rpm and 169WHP. It would probably make a bit more if I could reliably hit 21-22psi. On the street with this setup boost builds much faster through the small turbo, cruising at 3000 and throttling into it I will hit 21-22psi before 4k so its quick. On this dyno though it was a struggle.

40hpmx with 29mm mods to 44's with 33mm mods and +2 psi netted +22hp though.
