Always loved these images in his book, it's great how you got this done
Thanks!
I actually have all those old parts you see in his book as well. Complete with all of those old mostly wooden casting molds.
They were good inspiration

That's awesome, the original molds are definitely a score! Glad they didn't disappear and someone like you and your mates got hold of it.
It needs a lot of work and skills to make something like this from basically nothing.
Still trying to get some "normal" Type 4 with type one exhausts done in the "spare" time. A challenge in this current environment over here.

For those without facebook, here the latest updates: I had the manifolds cnc machined from billet as a casting seemed too much time consuming and costly. Not that these were cheap, but they sure are pretty and fitted like a glove!

(not my workshop btw)

Were the rocker covers cast and machined or did they come from a solid block?

Billet. For a few small parts, its a little less expensive to do so and less of an issue to change the design a bit if need be lateron

Small update for those without facebook:
Two major progresses: I have a set of newly made camshafts and all valveguides and seats are in all 4 heads now!
Next up is to digitalize the piston dome for the desired compression ratio (about 11:1) and send that off to JE.
