Think a 63mm intake would be too big for a stock 1600? We have some late model 4 cyl GM engine half tore apart at the shop that's going to the yard. I measured the intake and its right at 2.5" (which is 63.5mm) ID, and I was wondering if I should pull it off before it goes? Or do I need something from an originally turbo car?

Well, I guess 2 kadrons is about that size. You can always put on a smaller on if it's too much.

thats huge, but it'll run, you'll just get full throttle at about 10% throttle position. I have a 50mm. Mario runs a 43mm. Smaller throttle plates give way more throttle resolution.

Yeah If its too big I will just leave it. Figured I'd ask before it was gone.

Find something in the 42-45mm size.
I used the stock German TB from the 76-79 FI Bugs.
Mario has an adapter and can sell you a TPS that bolts right on them.
Either that or look for a BMW 850 TPS. Perchance I found one at a swap meet and lowballed the guy at $5.00 for the TPS. He had the whole intake for sale but was a true swapper and would sell anything for money....

I also used the FI fan shroud and was able to make a throttle arm from 34 pict parts that matched the shrouds cable hole for a stock cable useage and feel.
I did build my own intake though.

Just remembered, mine is 40mm. Of a Hyundai Accent.

Is it better/easier to get one from a turbo car? Maybe it would have a map sensor on it already?

Remeber that some ecu's have a built in map sensor

It all depends on what features you want and the ECU that you use. I am a Megasquirt fan, and that allows me to run about any modern TB that I choose. I had a Volvo unit on my first build but am using a 90's Saturn TB on new motor it is fairy compact and has IACV as well as TPS. It is a 50mm unit from 1.9 engine.

It's bike week here in Daytona starting this week. There will be 100,000 people here for it so I might see if I find something interesting from a motorcycle that could work too. Lots of swap meets during these events.

2.0L Porsche TB = 45mm, w/ TPS, flat mounted
1.6L Beetle TB = 45mm, w/ TPS, flat mounted
2.0L Bus TB = 45mm, w/o TPS, cone mounted

Oh boy. I got my fist taste of trying to tune efi today. I built an Eleanor Mustang at work that's running a Holley Sniper system. It's running rich so ive been working with the builder over the phone trying to get it right. 811 hp 427 Ford engine with a Tremec 6 speed. Engine was built by someone else and sent to us along with the tube chassis.
Pretty neat deal but I'm not very confident with my 10 minute training session.
