Been doing a little more tuning and trying to get the low throttle jerkiness out of the motor between 2000-3000rpm. I'm also starting to think Clonebug might be right as regards condensation blowing onto a hot Wideband sensor unit. Once the motor has warmed up, if I turn it off and then turn it back on again without revving it up, the sensor is fine. So I'm wondering about putting a switch on the WB or a timer of some sort. I'd use the ECU to turn it on at 60deg, but I've already run out of outputs. I'm also wondering if my fuel pressure regulator is set too low. Have to look at that.

Today's auto-tuning fun...

It's nice to live somewhere with plenty of hills.

Definitely thinking seriously about putting a switch in for WB till the motor warms up. I the car doesn't sell... Damn tyre kickers.

The wideband sensor will be ruined if you have it in the exhaust without it powered up.

My PLX turns on right away but it does go through a self check and warm up before it displays afr...

Ok? I was under the impression it waited longer than that. The LC2 I have also takes time to warmup and self check.

So, interesting turbo related news. A friend from my car club has lent me his 98 wrx for a while. Really interesting to drive a factory turbo car from the 1990s. Boost starts before 2500rpm. The car is quick, but not at all laggy. It's also given me some ideas about the throttle spring on the beetle, i.e. It needs to be stronger. I'm enjoying 90's simplicity vs our much newer family car.

Pete, glad to see you are enjoying a turbo ride, it is a shame that newer cars have become so complex.

Umm, dunno where you got that figure from. Wiki tells me they weigh 2800lb. So not a lightweight but not a boat anchor either.

The Tribeca is around 4300lbs. I'd be that's probably as heavy as they get.

Well, bitter sweet day today. The car went to a new home. The new owner is a diesel mechanic and his wife loves it. Should be in safe hands. So that's the end of the project for me.

I just want to take the opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone on the forum here. You guys made the whole thing possible for me in so many ways. STF is a great forum and I'm very grateful for it. I'll stick my nose in from time to time to see how you're all going. Keep on spannering! :)

Pete

P.s. Now I need to figure out what to buy next. I'm overwhelmed with options...
